Chosen Answer:
What computer do you have? If its a dell you can easily go to dell.com and find the drivers right there under support.

try booting in safe mode (just hit f8 repeatedly while turning on select safe mode)
Try a system restore to before you uninstalled soundmax.
If the drivers are not working your sound card may be damaged
since you can get a free scan…find out which drive is missing and then go to softpedia.com, in the drivers section and search for it
It could be in your Recycle Bin if you were fortunate enough to delete it to there. If you didn’t delete it there, you may have to buy a sound program, or you could check CNET and see if they have anything that will work and is free.
Don’t waste your time on those driver sites. Go to your Mfg. support site(Dell, HP, etc.) and download the exact driver you need. First try System Restore though.
This also happened to me. Basically what you do;
Click on the start menu and then control panel. If you classic view click on Add hardware the second one. If you have catagory view I am not sure how to fix it but in your left hand side click on classic view. Then click next. After that click the second option. I am not sure if it restarts by itself if it doesn’t restart then possible sound must come out. try to listen to a song to test your sound.
Hope this worked and helped
